What is PRF?
PRF is an innovative treatment that uses platelet concentrate. PRF consists of fibrin matrix, which is composed of platelet cytokines, cells, and growth factors to help facilitate skin rejuvenation, wound healing, and hair growth. This mixture of platelets helps produce tissue, as fibrin stimulates stem cells, which in turn generates elastin and collagen in the skin.
Prior to PRF treatment, we draw a single vial of blood from the patient. Next, we spin the blood down and use a centrifuge with a vial to separate PRF from the other blood elements. After the spinning process is finished, we harvest the PRF into a syringe from the top of the vial. Since the tube contains no anticoagulant, the result is a gel-like spongy product abundant in platelets, growth factors, stem cells, and fibrin, which is then injected into the skin to address issues such as aging skin, damaged skin, and hair loss.
Benefits of PRF Injections
Some of the key benefits of microneedling PRF injections include:
- Use the cells of the patient’s own body
- May potentially reduce wrinkles
- May potentially reduce undereye circles
- Stimulate healing of the skin
- May potentially reduce hair loss
- Marginal risk of side effects
The major benefit of the PRF treatment process is that it uses the cells of your own body to enhance the health of your skin.
