There are some essential differences between Botox and Dysport treatments that are important to know before receiving one of the injections. Wrinkles are caused by repeatedly contracting, or using, the muscles on the face. Neuromodulators, like Botox and Dysport, work to relax those muscles temporarily to  smooth the skin of the injected area. While both treatments are minimally-invasive neuromodulators, the level of concentration, diffusion rate, and efficacy differ for each.

What is Botox?

Botox injections work to block muscle contractions in order to smooth wrinkles and fine lines. After a round of Botox injections, it typically takes up to two weeks to reach its full effect, but you will likely see the treatment start to work within the first three to five days after treatment. Botox treatments are typically recommended every three to four months depending on the treated area.

What is Dysport?

Like Botox, Dysport injections are used to stop the muscles in the treated area from contracting and further forming fine lines and wrinkles. After an injection, the effects of the treatment might be seen more quickly for some patients than after a Botox treatment. Dysport treatments typically last three to four months.

How Will I Know Which Neuromodulator is Right For Me?

Botox and Dysport are the same cost. Your advanced provider will decide which one they believe will work best for you. On some patients, we may combine the two for best results in specific areas. Both companies offer reward programs to gain points for money off your intial treatment and future treatments. To determine how many units you may need, we recommend making an an appointment for a free consultation. You can be treated on the day of your consults.
